The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) is an urban, tertiary-care, academic, pediatric hospital whose emergency department (ED) sees over 100,000 ill and injured children each year. In 2017, approximately 5,000 children from over 50 different hospitals in the region were transferred to CHOP for further care. Thus far, the ImPACTS team has worked with seven of these hospitals to improve the emergency care of children through simulation. The team consists of Yen Tay, Megan Lavoie, and Theresa Walls. 

Yen Tay, MD

Yen Tay, MD completed her pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and her pediatric emergency medicine (PEM) fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital. She was recently appointed the Director of Simulation for the Division of Emergency Medicine at CHOP. In addition to simulation, her academic interests include faculty and community training of pediatric resuscitation and advanced life support.

Megan Lavoie, MD

Megan Lavoie, MD completed her pediatric residency at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and her PEM fellowship at the Medical College of Wisconsin/Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin. She serves as the director of the PEM fellowship at CHOP and is also active in simulation and medical education.

Theresa Walls, MD, MPH

Theresa Walls, MD, MPH completed her pediatric residency at Northwestern and her PEM fellowship at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, DC. Her academic interests include using collaboration and quality improvement tools to improve the emergency care of children in the prehospital setting and in general EDs; she now serves as the ImPACTS lead at CHOP.
