Children’s National Health System is a children's hospital in Washington, D.C. Children's National performs more than 450,000 visits each year. Featuring 323 beds and a Level IV NICU, Children's National is the regional referral center for pediatric emergency, trauma, cancer, cardiac and critical care as well as neonatology, orthopedic surgery, neurology and neurosurgery. Children's National is affiliated with The George Washington University School of Medicine. An initial program of ImPACTS in DC was delivered in January 2018 to three sites. The next phase will target the General Emergency Departments (n=9) across the District of Columbia and others in Maryland. These departments primarily see adult patients with no inpatient pediatric services; however children may still present. These low volume, high risk patients are the most vulnerable and we would hope that by improving pediatric readiness in these department their outcomes will improve.
